Japan Airlines
introduced the new service gSuper Resort Expressh on June 4, 1994, for the
travelers whose destinations are popular resort areas like Hawaii or Guam.
JALfs ten Boeing 747s and two DC-10 from Japan Air Charter, JALfs subsidiary,
were designated to gSuper Resort Expressh and Iiwi, Hawaian passerines, and
purple or yellow colored Hibiscus were painted on the body.
Original 747s were 747-146 JA8115(Yellow), 747-146 JA8116(Yellow),
747-246B JA8106(Yellow), 747-246B JA8110(Yellow), 747-246B JA8111(Purple),
747-246B JA8114(Purple), 747-246B JA8149(Purple), and 747-246B JA8150(Purple).
JA8106 and JA8115 were replaced by JA8131(B747-246B/Yellow) and JA8141(B747-246B/Purple)
later. gSuper Resort Expressh were expanded to domestic resort islands, Okinawa,
and total three 747-346SRs JA8184, JA8186, and JA8187 were painted identical
colors, but with gOKINAWAh under gSUPER RESORT EXPRESSh on the body. This
JA8186 with the letters gOKINAWAh erased was taken just before being transferred
to international service after the termination of Okinawa program.
Japan Air Charter
was established under JAL group on October 5, 1990 for international charter
business. The company was renamed later to JALWays on October 1, 1999 and
initiated schedule flights to Hawaii and Guam.
Japan Air Charter assigned two DC-10-40s JA8539 and JA8544 to gSuper Resort
Expressh. DC-10-40 JA8541 joined later to the express.
Japan Airlines announced that it rename gSuper Resort Expressh to gResofchah, a compound word of gResorth and gGotchah, and renew the program and introduced a new gResofchah plane, 747-246B JA8111 on October 15, 1999. The plane is also wearing gJALWaysh title first time since Japan Air Charter became JALWays on October 1, 1999.
Iiwi and Hibiscus in the old design are retained and two Plumeria patterns, purple and white, are added to gResofchah planes. Total eight B747s, four each from JAL and JALWays had this scheme. 747-246B JA8111(Purple Plumeria), 747-246B JA8149(Salmon Pink Hibiscus), 747-246B JA8150(Purple Plumeria), and 747-146 JA8128(Purple Plumeria) are from JALWays. Japan Airlines had four gResofchah planes, 747-346SR JA8183(White Plumeria), 747-346SR JA8184(White Plumeria), 747-346SR JA8186(Salmon Pink Hibiscus), and 747-346SR JA8187(Salmon Pink Hibiscus).
JALWays had total four DC-10-40s when gResofchah was introduced and all except JA8541 leased to Japan Airlines were repainted in May of 2001 for JA8544(Salmon Pink Hibiscus), in July for JA8539(Purple Pulmeria), and in November for JA8547(Salmon Pink Hibiscus).
JAL Group introduced the new logo, gThe Arc of the Sunh, on September 18, 2002 prior to the formal merger of Japan Airlines and Japan Air System on October 2, 2002. All aircrafts in their fleet inventory were repainted one after another from November. JALWays is not exceptional and wore the new logo.
